the effect of family- centered care on anxiety of hospitalized child’s parents with urinery tract infection in pediatric ward of shahid motahary medical training center in urmia in 2012.     khalilzadeh h [1] *,khorsandi f [2] ,feizi a [3] ,khalkhali hr [4]     received: 21 nov , 2012 accepted: 17 feb , 2013     abstract   background & aims : child&apos;s hospitalization is considered as one of the most stressful life event for parents and children. child&apos;s fear of separation, unknowns and etc. are factors for anxiety and confusion in the parents&apos; emotions, that easily moves to children, cause a negative impact on children, disorder in the parents role and disorder in the care and treatment but the constant presence of parents with having an active role in child care, can reduce anxiety, strengthen parental identity and increasing sense of empowerment in them. so this study aimed to determine the effect of family centered care on the anxiety of parents of hospitalized children with urinary tract infection.   materials & methods : this study is a quasi-experimental study. sampling is available probability and the estimated number of samples in each group is 40 (totally 80 person). questionnaire consisted of two parts, demographic profile (14 questions) and spielberger trait anxiety questionnaire (40 questions). to determine the scientific validity of the questionnaire&apos;s content validity and to determine the scientific reliability, cronbach&apos;s alpha test was used. after obtaining consent from subjects, control group received the usual care and experimental group family-based care. spielberger trait anxiety questionnaire was completed by parents in both groups at admission, 48 hours after admission and at discharge and analyzed using statistical test.   result : research findings suggest that the mean parental anxiety in control group at discharge (58/6 ± 82/48) and intervention group (11/7 ± 15/33). the t-test (p < 0/0001) show significant difference between two groups anxiety mean after intervention.   conclusion: implementation of family-centered care over usual care approach is to reduce parental anxiety. therefore, this method can be used in the care of hospitalized children   keywords: family centered care, anxiety, parents, and urinary infection of childre     address: nursing and midwifery faculty, urmia university of medical sciences, urmia, iran   tel: (+98) 441 2754961   email : [email protected]   [1] lecturer, faculty of, urmia university of medical sciences (corresponding author)*  [2] nursing student ,urmia nursing and midwifery university of medical science s  [3] assistant professor, faculty of nursing and midwifery, urmia university of medical science s  [4] assistant professor of public health faculty, urmia university of medical sciences
